Lascala #1 tragedy

Hello!  I am new to the knit along and hoped to post a picture and wonderful update of my current Hanne project, Lascala #1.  I have done a few Hanne projects in the past and just love them.  But this morning i've had a terrible tragedy and need some help.  You see, I have this dog.  When I leave the house I have to make sure that anything and everything that could possibly be chewed is put away and all doors to bedrooms are closed.  I had a busy morning getting the kids out the door to daycare and forgot to close the sliding door to our bathroom that also closes off the bedroom.  When I got home I found Hanne strewn all across the livingroom floor.  I want to cry.  What I already knit (almost half of the scarf) was unharmed but a WHOLE ball of yarn is ripped to shreds.  Gone.  Can't get it back.  Can I even get one ball of yarn from her? From anywhere?  I need the Chestnut color.  I want to cry.  This is not an inexpensive undertaking and I can hear my husband now "you should have closed the door".  Ya, I know.  DUH.  Any advice on where to find yarn would be appreciated.  I might just go sit in a corner and rock now.

I would try Cucumber Patch in England. I have no idea if they can help, but they might. That's where I got my kit for another Hanne project and they were very helpful to me.

cucumberpatch is fabulous. but if they can't help you (perhaps because you bought it elsewhere?) contact where you did buy it. i have heard of things like this--and yarn shortages-- being remedied that way. perhaps they're like microsoft and want to make sure you have an "authorized" version?

Oh how sad. I would contact the Hanne Falkenberg organization itself, explain the situation, and ask whether you could buy the single ball. I would be surprised it they would not help you.

Thanks!! I typically buy from Cucumber Patch but bought this one from Kangaroo. I'm going to send her an email and see if she can help at all or have advice. If not i'll contact the Hanne Falkenberg organization. I can't imagine i'm the first person in history to have lost a ball, or run out of a color or had something happen. I've been so distraught that I haven't even been able to look at it or think about it. I'm trying to finish up another cardigan right now and then i'll go back to the scarf. It just makes me so sad! Darn dog.

The only time a dog (visiting, not my own!) got near my HF, it only destroyed parts of a ball, and I was lucky enough to have left-overs in the same colour. But if I were you, and the stores mentioned above can't help you, I would contact Hanne's organization. I've met her a couple of times, and she seems really nice, so I'm sure that if they can, they'll help. Hope everything works out for you!
