Mermaid body finished

yippee, the body is done! thanks to this other KAL. knitting I-cord tonight and casting on sleeves tomorrow. plan is to do two sleeves simultaneously - this encourages them to be identical - and to omit the contrasting stripe that goes lengthwise. has anyone else done that?

My concern in eliminating the stripe would be that it may not tie in with the body as well. The body is patterned with color, the sleeves may look as if you were running out of yarn and went with a solid color instead of being a design feature.

hm, you have a point there. I might want to use two colours, but perhaps I could use the two main colours of the body.

Personally, I think that a solid sleeve would look better too. I was planning on doing that. The stripe down the sleeve sort of reminds me of a jogging suit or something, while the stripes on the body are elegant.

agree with the jogging suit sleeve vs elegant style body. i suppose we'll both be showing pics on this site and find out how things look in real life.

Hi Arja,

You and I seem to have similar taste (also from the TdF KAL), and I see that you are in the Netherlands. Maybe you can give me some suggestions. I will be in Amsterdam for a few days later this month - any great suggestions for things that might be a bit off the beaten track. I'll be with my husband and daughter who is a college student.

If you have some suggestions, maybe we could communicate by e-mail.
