Another Mermaid Question

With the hot weather coming, has anyone tried knitting a Mermaid or other Hanne pattern using a fine cotton or linen yarn with the appropriate guage? The thought of starting mine in wool right now is overwhelming - I can just imagine having hour upon hour of it sitting on my lap in a pool of sweat.

I had a friend fall in love with the mermaid, but she is allergic to wool. She asked me to make one for her in bernat baby yarn. You are very limited to colour combinations, but if you like pastels, go for it, because it turned out perfect. So, I know that there are cotton and linen yarns out there that will do the trick. Make sure you look at suggested gauge on product first.

Thanks. Do you know exactly the name of the yarn? As far as I can tell, Bernat Baby Yarn is 100% acrylic, not cotton and I am specifically interested in cotton.

Clea 100% cotton yarn would probably do, but you would probably have to knit it with 2 strands instead of one. You can order through Mary Maxim website

There are lots of yarns that MIGHT work. I'm asking whether anyone has actually knit one with either a cotton or linen yarn and been happy with the results. If so, what was the actual yarn used.

Thanks.

Look at the July archives, there is a cotton one there. I believe she did 2 in cotton -- the brown one and a blue. Scroll down through July and you see the brown one. I loved how hers turned out and thought to do a monotone one myself, until I realized how much I needed to change colors in garter stitch to hold my interest!

I did a mermaid without sleeves and in cotton.

I just love this pattern, but cannot wear Shetland wool. Does anyone know if Hanne Falkenberg company will sell a merino wool kit or just a pattern?
