Amsterdam and Oslo yarn shops
Hi Everyone! I'm lucky enough to be taking a cruise to Amsterdam and Oslo in early December and wondered if any of you know of any bargain knit shops where I can purchase some Hanne kits? Thank you! Linda

With the dollar so weak nothing will be a bargin. The best you can hope for is to buy it duty free. There used to be a program in Norway that if the package was sealed at the airport you could get the Norwegain taxes (the highest in the world) back. You need to go to Husfliden. There is a big one a couple of blocks off Karl Johan Street. That is one of the most famous streets in Oslo. There you will find all the makings for norwegain crafts, lots of yarn and weaving supplies as well as finished products. Enjoy your trip. It will be dark there most of the time that far north. claire
The only dealer for Hanne in Holland is in Leiden. Ribbels, located in the downtown area. Their website is www.ribbels.nl, and I think there may be an English-language website.
As far as I know, Holland still participates in the 19% VAT rebate, but I don't know if there's a minimal purchase to qualify. You had to save the receipt and fill out an application - I can have a look if you like. Cheers, Laurie
http://toveb.typepad.com/photos/garnbutiker/17strikkedilla.html this is a website with yarn shops in Oslo. Also it said that the tax is 24% and you can get it back again when leaving the country with the items. Claire
