I'm just starting my Studio Long (finally). Is there any reason that the M1 increases on triangle Z need to be worked one stitch in from the edge instead of two? Has anyone used an increase other than the M1 specified in the pattern?

I'm knitting Studio Long currently, too, and I think it's vital to follow the instructions for the sake of the lower ending (which is a nice monochrome ribbon in the main colour). But maybe I'm just a coward. :)
