Public Shaming, please.

Hello everyone! Since discovering this knitalong I've been motivated to begin work on what has become my #1 Most Shameful Unfinished Purchase. Clearly I am spoiled and/or lazy, to have this kit sitting on the top of my shelves in my yarn room for a year and a half after coveting it online for a year previously. That's two and a half years, people!

I have a swatch. It has been washed and is perfect! Seeing all the finished Mermaids and other Hanne designs will help. Anyone here can also make me feel guilty for having the money to spend on this and then just letting it sit around. Let the guilt be my motivation!

Oh My God, This could have been me writing this post! I also have had my kit for an awfully long time after lusting for this sweater for what seems like forever.
now I really must get on the ball, the wonderful Amy has sent me a copy of her spreadsheet and now I have no reason to put it off any longer
WISH ME LUCK-

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I stopped working on Lastrada (about 80% finished) last summer when the weather got too hot to knit wool. I haven't picked it up again, but I leave it where I will see it often in the hope that it will shame me into it. Somehow the current project always seems more compelling. I really do want to finish it... Maybe your post will inspire me too.

May I join the pillary? I, too, have been knitting on my DaCapo for far too long. I am swearing that I will visit the KAL more often to inspire me along.

You are not alone. I bought my Mermaid kit over a year ago. however, I am very grateful not to have started it all that time ago. I have gone down a few sizes since then (like lost 70lbs) and so it would have hung on me. But, I too have a stash of stuff in my cupboards (of which my husband is largely ignorant, I may add). I keep promising myself I won't buy anything else until I have finished more of my stash. May be one day.....

Thank you, everyone! I'm so glad to have found this space to share my experiences and feel that I'm not alone (everyone I know would be HORRIFIED to hear how much I spent on the kit, but knitters understand!)

Hey, wait a minute, am I the only one who noticed the words, "yarn room?" A whole room? I thought I was lucky to have a full closet (plus all the other corners of various rooms!)
Anyway, now that I'm over that, I also have had my kit for over a year, and have done a grand total of 3" of i-cord! It made me feel better to see how many of you are in the same position. I don't think I'll pick it back up til the fall though...

... a yarn room... I want that!

Well, it's a relatively small room. My husband has accepted this. Now that I've started Mermaid I'll feel less guilty in there.

Lyn, skip the i-cord and start off knitting with a provisional cast-on. Finish with an i-cord bind-off after you sew the sweater together. This way you don't have to worry about the gauge on the i-cord, and there is no seam in the i-cord.

Bless you, fiberfanatic! I've started mine with your method this very evening!
